Enter a local time warp where Marius Pedersen lived with his wife. He designed 10 of the houses on Bakkekammen - a street close to the fjord in Holbæk - and the house stands completely untouched Enter a local time warp where architect Marius Pedersen lived with his wife. He designed 10 of the houses on Bakkekammen - a street close to the fjord in Holbæk - and the house is completely untouched. We begin the tour with a walk in the neighborhood, where we'll hear about the ideas behind the unique building style that was called 'Bedre Byggeskik'. We look into the garden at Bakkekammen 40, which was one of the main works from 1917 and end with a tour of Bakkekammen 45, which was Marius Pedersen's home. The house was built according to Marius Pedersen's drawings in 1929, where he lived and worked until his death in 1965. His widow stayed until 2007, after which the house became a museum, and it's a very special experience to step inside. The house is completely untouched with the original furniture and color scheme on the walls and doors, and it's like walking into a time warp. The grounds used to be an orchard and some of the old fruit trees still stand in the lush garden behind the house. Of course, we'll also take a walk in the garden. Bakkekammen is only accessible via guided tours. It is necessary to purchase a ticket in advance. Price: DKK 100. The ticket also covers admission to Holbæk Museum on the same day. Soil is life - exhibition and soil tracesPartner event · Sunday, July 26, 2026 at 9:00 AM

For millennia, we have used the soil, which is vital for both humans and animals. Learn more about the soil we all walk on or cultivate in gardens and fields. We rarely think about it, but soil is not just soil. The soil beneath our feet is full of life and contains plant roots, small animals and myriads of micro-life that we must take care of if we want healthy crops for animals and people and clean drinking water in the future. The earth also contains valuable materials that we humans have exploited over time and which we must use with care. And then there's the whole story about the ownership of the land... Visit the small exhibition "Earth is life" in Fjelstedgården's stable (farm no. 6) and follow the earth trail around the village. Both will help you learn more about the earth and our relationship with it in both history and the present.
